The students' union

The students' unionIt’s said that university is where you’ll meet your lifetime friends, and where better to meet them than at the many events and activities organised by the Students’ Union? The Union aims to provide everything you’ll need as a student outside your lectures. We have great facilities on campus that provide a place for you to relax and enjoy your time here. Whether to meet your friends between lectures, or to enjoy the many events we provide to entertain you in the evening, we’ll certainly make your time at Trinity an enjoyable and memorable one!

The Students’ Union (SU) is a democratic organisation, run by students for students. A team of elected officers work with the President and Deputy President to direct the activities and services. The SU building is located in the middle of Trinity’s compact campus, and provides almost everything you’ll need outside of your lectures. The SU is run as a charity, which means that any money that we make is reinvested in the SU to improve facilities and keep costs low.

Unity

The students' unionUnity is the SU nightclub and is one of the best entertainment venues in West Wales. A purpose built multi-functional venue with first class sound system, big screen visuals and intelligent lighting. Throughout the year Unity plays host to club nights, live music, comedy and cabaret from the very best in local and international acts.

Attic Bar

The students' unionThe Attic Bar is at the heart of the Students’ Union - a place to call home! Enjoy the relaxed, friendly atmosphere at all times, day and night.

During the day pop in between lectures when we have a superb range of quality coffees and teas on offer to drink in or take away, in addition to our full bar service.

The students' unionEvery evening the Attic is a lively and welcoming bar with a great vibe and top rate facilities, Sky and Sub TV for all major sporting events and music videos, internet Jukebox, pool tables and pub games.

Shop

Situated at the entrance of the SU building is our very handy convenience store. The shop provides a wide range of essential items at great prices. We currently stock sandwiches, confectionery, toiletries, newspapers, and much, much more. There is also the range of must-have bespoke Trinity clothing.

Entertainment

The students' unionThe entertainment provided by the SU is of good value and quality. We try to cater for everyone’s tastes with a mixture of live bands, comedians and various entertainers, discos and themed events. The fun starts during Freshers’ Fortnight, which provides a great opportunity to meet new friends through the many events packed into the first two weeks.

The students' unionWe also hold a number of lavish balls throughout the year, including Halloween, Christmas and Valentine’s Day, as well as the spectacular Summer Ball held at the end of the year. The Summer Ball is the biggest event with a Funfair, Marquee, various big-name bands as well as novelty acts.

The students' unionBut, there’s more to the Students’ Union than entertainment, bars and a shop. We represent students’ views within the University and the wider community. The SU is also affiliated to the National Union of Students. Additional services and facilities support you during your time here and enable you to develop your potential to the full.

Advice and Support

Going to University can be an emotional time for many students as it’s often their first experience of living away from home, and most students face challenges of some kind. The SU Welfare Service is committed to helping you to overcome such challenges by providing a free, confidential and independent service intended to support and promote your well-being. The Welfare Service provides information and guidance on a host of issues including, health, accommodation and finance.

Volunteering

Wednesday afternoons are set aside by the University for student activities, so that no one has to miss out on taking part in sporting activities or volunteering work due to lectures. There are plenty of activities and sports available to enable you to lead a full and active life outside your academic work. Taking part in such activities will help you develop your personal skills and achievements - and will certainly boost your CV. Taking part in voluntary work is an ideal way to develop skills and experience that employers will value. Volunteers are an established and integral part of the SU and without their help we would not be able to provide the current range of activities and services.

Clubs and societies

There are plenty of opportunities for you to become involved in Sports Clubs and Societies whilst at the University. Through affiliations with The University of Wales Athletic Union and the British Universities & Colleges Sports (BUCS) we are able to provide a full fixture programme for our teams. Getting involved is a great way of meeting new people and having fun. The University is also an Award Centre for the Duke of Edinburgh Award, which gives you an opportunity to gain more recognised skills. The SU funds and supports a variety of societies that develop the interests and skills of students. Don’t feel limited by the current societies - we are always interested in new ideas. The SU actively encourages interest, involvement and participation from all students in all of its activities. Everybody within the SU is committed to supporting you and your development during your time at Trinity University College.

The course is opening a variety of different options for the future. The staff are very friendly and are always helpful. The swimming pool and gym facilities encourage us to keep busy. I’ve met so many people by living on campus and am thoroughly enjoying the whole experience.

The campus is situated in a convenient area and it is very picturesque. Most things are within walking distance so there are plenty of opportunities on and off the campus.”
