Chaplaincy

CampusAs a member of the family of Church Colleges, Christian values are at the core of the ethos of Trinity University College and the Chapel is at the heart of university life. Your period at University can be a time of searching for values and meaning that will enrich and underpin the whole of your life. There are many opportunities to explore and celebrate Christian faith through the various activities organised by the Chaplaincy team.

The Chapel has been recently reordered and there are further plans ahead, making this an oasis of peace, inspiration and renewal at the heart of a busy campus. Taking time to pray or meditate in the midst of the bustle of university life adds an extra dimension to the life of many of our students and staff. There is an act of worship in the Chapel on Sunday evenings each weekday morning, with twice-weekly celebrations of the Eucharist and various services to mark key occasions in the church and university year. Though the University is an Anglican foundation, the chaplaincy is ecumenical in nature and draws on the riches of a wide diversity of Christian expression, using both Welsh and English in its services and activities. Amongst the many issues supported by the Chaplaincy are the campaign against Global Poverty, Wales’ designation as a Fair Trade country and the ongoing work of peace and justice organisations such as Christian Aid and Amnesty International.

There is also a prayerful and enthusiastic Christian Union which meets weekly for prayer, worship, Bible study, discussion and fellowship. As the university community changes from year to year, the life of the Chapel is constantly being developed and enriched, with plenty of opportunities to offer a variety of gifts and to enjoy a range of fulfilling and life-transforming experiences. The Chaplain is an Anglican priest who is available to all members of the University regardless of religious faith, for confidential pastoral and spiritual guidance, alongside the support offered by Student Services and personal tutors.
